Montego Bay nro 2 on valmis.
I finished my second Montego Bay Scarf a couple of days ago.
Väri on -kuten jo aikaisemmin totesinkin- aivan ihana. Lanka on siis Tallinnasta ostettua virkkauslankaa, jonka aluksi pelkäsin olevan liian jäykkää. Mutta ihan hyvältä näyttää! Hapsut jätän tällä kertaa pois.
The color is absolutely beautiful: I’m not sure if it’s gray or lila. I used a crochet yarn that I bought from Tallinn a while ago, and it turned out to be a quite good choice (in the beginning of the project I thought that it was too stiff). I didn’t want to make a fringe this time, and I think it looks pretty ok this way, too.

It’s Cressida from Rowan Studio 4.
Lankana toimii Garnstudion Safran, joka on ihanan pehmeä ja edullinen lanka. Takakappaleeseen kului vähän reilu kaksi kerää lankaa, joten tästä tulee vaatimattoman budjetin neuletakki. Vähän kyllä huolettaa, onko tästä tulossa liian pitsinen minun makuuni, mutta kahtellaan.
I’m using Garnstudio’s Safran – a great yarn and a really great price! I used only two balls for the back piece, so this project won’t cost a fortune. I’m a bit worried that the cardigan will be too lacy for my taste, but we’ll see.

Ja lisää uutisia Garnstudiolta: supermuhkea lanka Polaris. Hmm. Mahdollisesti käyttökelpoinen Twinkle-projekteihin? Olen käyttänyt Twinklen villaneuleisiin Eskimoa, mutta se perhana ei pidä kuiduistaan kiinni jos käyttää isoja puikkoja. Jäämme siis odottelemaan!
Garnstudio continues to surprise: they’ll be releasing a new chunky yarn this year: Polaris. Perhaps suitable for Twinkle designs? I’ve been using Garnstudio’s Eskimo for Twinkle’s patterns in the past but the problem is that it sheds like hell when knitted with really big needles…

Otona no couture ‘One piece smock blouse’, malli/pattern 4.
Mukavan vilpoisa kesätoppi. Jouduin muokkaamaan hihoja, koska en halunnut näyttää lepakolta. Kangas tuo mieleeni mummolan saunan haalistuneet verhot. Hyvä vaiko huono assosiaatio?
A nice summer top. I had to modify the sleeves a bit because I didn’t want to look like a bat – the sleeves were huge…

Mekko/dress: Otona no couture ‘One piece smock blouse’, malli/pattern 6.
Kuvassa näkyy myös pieni neuletakki, jonka olen saanut valmiiksi jo noin kuukausi sitten. En ole kuvanut sitä aikaisemmin, koska tarkoitus olisi värjätä se. Malli on Lion Brand Yarnin sivulta.
I’ve finished the small cardigan a while ago, but I haven’t taken any photos of it earlier because I’ve been planning to dye it. Pattern is Lion Brand Yarn’s.

Olin aluksi täysin vakuuttunut, että japanilaisten ompelukirjojen vaatteet olisivat liian pieniä minulle. Tehtyäni tarkat mittaukset totesin, että olen kokoa 13 (eli se suurin koko). Muutaman vaatteen jälkeen olen todennut, että kaavat ovat todella väljiä, ja esimerkiksi edellä kuvattu mekko on kokoa 9 (eli toiseksi pienin koko) ja siltikin se tuntuu hieman liian isolta.
When I bought these books I was convinced that the patterns would be too small for me. After taking the measurements I thought I’m size 13 (i.e. the biggest size). I’ve now made a couple of garments and they have all been a bit too big for me (for example, that dress is size 9 and it’s still a bit too big).

Muokkasin ohjetta sen verran, että jätin palmikot pois hihoista ja tein ne helmineuleella.
I made the sleeves with moss stitch instead of the cable pattern.
Valitettavasti en pääse pitämään tätä kuin vasta muutaman kuukauden kuluttua… Ihan liian lämmin kesäneuleeksi!
Unfortunately I won’t be able to wear this any time soon… Way too hot for summer time!

Lankana Tallinnasta ostettu puuvillainen virkkauslanka, väri on kaunis liilaan taittuva harmaa.
I’m using a cotton yarn that I bought from Tallinn. The color is absolutely beautiful: pearly gray with a shade of lila.
Toppi muuttuikin liiviksi.
My lightweight top turned into a vest.
Paljon käytännöllisempi näin.
Much more practical this way.

Olen suunnitellut käyttäväni liiviä ohuiden paitojen ja mekkojen kanssa, mutta valitettavasti minulla ei vielä ole sellaisia. Ratkaisu tähän ongelmaan on kuitenkin löytynyt – katso seuraava postaus.
I’ve been planning to use this vest with flimsy shirts and dresses, but unfortunately I haven’t got any of those in my wardrobe. This problem has now been solved – take a look at my next post.

Lanka on ihanan pehmeää, mutta valitettavasti se ei tahdo pysyä kasassa löyhäkierteisyytensä vuoksi.
I love this incredibly soft yarn (it was a bit splitty, though).

En löytänyt langalle sopivaa sukkaohjetta, joten päätin tehdä siitä huivin.
I couldn’t find a nice sock pattern for this yarn, so I decided to make a scarf instead.

Myssy ei ole ihan niin iso kuin sen pitäisi olla, koska lankaa ei ollut riittävästi (käytin Twinklen pitsiliivistä jääneitä jämälankoja). Ihan kiva silti.
The hat isn’t as slouchy as it should be because I didn’t have enough yarn (I used the leftover yarn from Twinkle’s vest that I made earlier). I like it anyway.
Sain valmiiksi Cabled Waistcoatin pari päivää sitten.
Aloitin Textured Cardiganin, lankana Garnstudion Silke-Tweed. Takakappale valmis.
Kamera ei edelleenkään toimi.

In the future I’ll be posting both in Finnish and English.
I finished my Cabled Waistcoat from Rowan Studio 8 a couple of days ago. I love the result, it’s really warm but not too heavy. I used 7 skeins of Grignasco Tango (wool/alpaca/viscose). At the moment I’m making Textured Cardigan – also from RS8 – with Garnstudio Silke-Tweed. I’ve finished the back piece.
My camera is broken so I wont be able to add any photos for a while…
